A letter from our lady President:Hello,
On behalf of the Gamma Pi Chapter, I would love to welcome you and thank you for your interest in Gamma Phi Beta at Minnesota State University, Mankato. The Gamma Pi Chapter of Gamma Phi Beta has had a home here in Mankato since 1966. We have shared over 50 years of academic excellence, enduring friendships, leadership development, and the joys of sisterhood. The bond we have shared over the years is one that has never wavered because of the strength of our sisterhood. When choosing a college my junior year of High School, I instantly felt at home on the Minnesota State University, Mankato campus. Although it was a good five hours trek back to where I grew up, I had no doubt that the transition would help me grow my individuality. My first few weeks in college pointed out how far away I really decided to go when all my dorm friends were an easy hour drive home almost every weekend. As homesickness set in, I decided to step out of my comfort zone and sign up for formal recruitment in Fall 2016. I had always been a shy and uninvolved person through my high school experience and the thought of talking one on one with such confident girls was so intimidating to me. All of my worries were left at the door when I stepped into the Gamma Phi Beta room. These girls were so welcoming and I knew that I wanted to be apart of it no matter what it took. Never in my wildest dreams did I believe that I would be accepted into such an empowering group of girls. I never knew how much they would build me up into the person I have always wanted to be. My sisters push me to be the best version of myself and prepare me for my future. I went from a timid and unconfident girl to the current president of Gamma Phi Beta. I could never have believed in myself without my sisters believing in me first. Throughout my time in Gamma Phi Beta, I have given back to the community, grown as a leader in the Greek community, achieved high honors in academics, and found my best friends. None of this would have been possible without the support, love and guidance of my sisters. I am so happy that I took a chance and went outside of my comfort zone three years ago. I, along with the rest of my sisters, can agree that joining Gamma Phi Beta was one of the best decisions I have made throughout my college career. I have not only found a family within my chapter, but I have found a home in our Greek community here at MSU. Just as our founders did in 1874, Gamma Phi Beta women strive to uphold the highest type of womanhood. We value the individual worth and contribution of each member. We value academic achievement and personal development. We encourage our members to build mentally and physically strong girls through our partnership with Girls on the Run. Most of all, we are loyal to one another and our values as a Gamma Phi Beta woman. Seeking members, Alumnae, and fellow sisters, I invite you to explore the website and seek out what this sisterhood means to each of us. I hope you find just as much joy in this organization as I do. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Gamma Phi Beta is always here for you. Love in IIKE, Jordan Schindler Chapter President |
